Why We List Councils Rather Than Just Towns
Because it is the thing that genuinely changes as you move across our patch, and it is the part of a fencing job nobody thinks about until the old panels are stacked on the drive.
Every district runs its own bin service, and none of them will take an old fence panel. Garden waste subscriptions are for grass and prunings, not treated timber — Ashfield names timber and DIY waste as excluded and checks bins; Gedling and Mansfield both stop collecting entirely in January and February, which is exactly when storm damage happens. Prices differ too, from around £35 a year in Ashfield upwards.
The tips are a separate matter again. They are run by Nottinghamshire County Council rather than by your district, and they treat old fencing as DIY waste: two 50-litre bags or one item per visit, nothing over 2000mm × 750mm × 700mm, and four visits per household in any four weeks. A standard 6ft panel is over that single-item limit on its own. Vehicles need registering in advance and vans or trailers need a permit booked 24 hours ahead.
The rule most people have never heard
Nottinghamshire County Council states that where waste has arisen from work carried out by a tradesperson, disposing of it is that tradesperson's legal responsibility, not the householder's. A fitter who leaves your old fence stacked on the drive has not done you a favour.
We take it with us, wherever the job is. Registered waste carrier, licence CBDU474286, so it goes to a licensed facility. If you would rather keep the old timber, we will price the work without removal.

How far do you travel from Nottingham?
We are based on Beechdale Road in Nottingham and cover the city, the surrounding boroughs and districts, up to Mansfield and Newark, and across the Derbyshire border into Erewash. If your town is not on this page it is worth asking rather than assuming, because coverage depends on the size of the job as much as the distance.
My town is not listed. Do you still cover it?
Quite possibly. The pages here are the areas we work in most often, not the limit of where we go. Send us your postcode and a photo of the run and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.
Do you charge extra for travel?
The quotation states the price for the work and any travel is accounted for within it, so there is no separate mileage charge added afterwards. If a job is far enough out that it materially affects the price, we will say so when we quote rather than after.
Can I put old fence panels in my brown bin?
No, in any of the districts we cover. Garden waste subscriptions are for grass, hedge trimmings and prunings, not treated timber, and several councils stop collecting entirely in January and February. Old panels need a recycling centre or a registered waste carrier.
Do you remove the old fence wherever the job is?
Yes. We remove the old panels, posts and gravel boards as part of the job and dispose of them at a licensed facility, under waste carrier licence CBDU474286, regardless of which district the property is in. If you would rather keep the old materials, we will price the work without removal.
