We've provided much more information on our fencing page but here is a short overview of the main items to consider for either garden fences or commercial fencing:
Whilst it may seem that a garden fence is a fairly straight forward item we'd like to provide some top line facts about fencing so that when you come to speak to us, or when we come to you, you have a better idea of some of the options available to you and perhaps it will help you ask some specific questions you may subsequently have relating to your garden fence.
These provide the backbone to your fence, so it's critical that these are correctly installed - set into concrete at a suitable depth for the type and size of fence you have chosen. These are available in wood, metal, concrete and composite materials, however for a long lasting fence we would generally avoid recommending wooden fence posts. In addition to fence posts our garden and driveway gate installation service also includes fitting of new gate posts where required to ensure appropriate support is provided for any new gate you decide on, especially for larger composite driveway gates.
The most popular type of fencing in Nottingham is wooden panels, however as more and more people are spending more time in their gardens having a good
looking fence, which sets the background to the rest of your horticultural exploits has let to a rise in the popularity of metal and in particular plastic fencing or composite fence panels. These need little to no maintenance and stay looking good for well over 10 years. This allows you to spend time on the fun part of gardening rather than rubbing down a wooden fence to then paint or treat on a regular basis. That said, wooden fence panels offer the widest variety of styles and are typically the cheapest option.

If you are looking to refresh the look of your existing fencing and not ready for a full replacement why not take advantage of our fence painting service?
Concrete gravel boards are mostly fitted at the bottom of a wooden fence panel to keep the panel from contacting the ground. This protects the wood from to moisture and certain bugs and slugs, which means your wooden fence will last longer. Composite and metal gravel boards are also available and would typically be used to seamlessly complement their respective panel material.
In certain circumstances full concrete gravel board fences make perfect sense. Often favoured by landlords, or when a particular fence backs onto a public footpath.

Trellises are often thought of as the open latticed top to a wooden fence panel - however, they can be a full fence panel in their own right. This trend is growing in popularity as more home owners are creating different sections to their gardens. Trellising can provide an excellent way of partitioning garden sections with climbing plants creating a decorative wall.

garden trellis page provides further options
Metal, whilst growing in popularity in domestic fencing from a panel perspective has always been a popular choice in front gardens and commercial premises. For gardens metal rails, either on their own or on top of a wall, provide an open and ornate feel. For commercial premises or a businesses you will often want security fencing or chain link fencing and metal provides the widest choice of styles and security levels.
School fencing will focus on metal railings for boundary fencing and composite or wooden fencing for sectioning of internal areas.

Our range of made to measure gates include:
For larger front entrance spaces to your property we also provide full supply and fit of driveway gates. We apply the same principles as we do for our garden gates and our bespoke options mean we can provide the perfect gate for you. We can provide a full range of driveways gates including:
In addition to the manufacturing we also install them and so you can also decide on which way you want them to open - either swing or if you want a sliding driveway gate we can make those too. We can even fit them to be
automated gates, which will allow you to open them remotely without having to leave your car.
Many of our larger fencing installations require large hedge removal and as an extension to that aspect of our work we can provide a more comprehensive garden clearance too. Our team can remove all green waste from your garden and as licenced waste carriers ensure that this is recycled properly.
Over the winter months it's often the best time to cut, trim and remove branches shrubs and some plants that have died. Unfortunately this can sometimes come to allow more than can fit in your green waste bin. Since the council scheme stops over these months it can act as a deterrent to sorting out your garden due to the build up of garden waste.
At Nottingham Fencing we can provide a proactive garden clearance service or simply a green waste removal option. To find out which may be suitable for you click onto our garden clearance page.
We cater for a broad level of landscaping and garden makeover work in Nottingham for both business and domestic clients. Whether your after a full design and makeover, or just freshening up sections of your garden with a
new patio, decking, adding tiers, pergolas, raised beds, a new lawn or artificial grass section - we're happy to discuss options on what can be achieved in your space and budget.
We aim to ensure you enjoy your outdoor environment with interesting structures, layouts, textures - designed for the look and lifestyle you're after.
Even of you have a small outdoor space we can help you make the most of it. Incorporating raised beds, a decking or patio area, sectioning your garden and shaping your lawn area can make a massive impact. For further information check out our Landscaping page to get a better idea of our hard and soft landscaper services.
A new, or replacement decking area can create an excellent entertaining area. In the summer they can bring a different feel and texture to a garden. As these are typically raised structures, they work very well in gardens where you have large variations in land levels or a large slope. They can provide an excellent, practical entertaining area and a viewing gallery to the rest of your garden. Whilst wooden decking is still a popular choice we are installing more and more composite decking due to its hard wearing properties and require little to low maintenance requirements.
A decking area lends itself to being a self contained section, either by fencing and, or using a pergola to set off the decking area or to allow plants or even full height screening to create shaded areas.
Further information, inspiration and ideas can be found on our decking page.
Patios, a bit like decking can be used to create a practical section for entertaining, a decorative feature or creating a flow through your garden. From a more practical perspective a path can provide a basic way of getting around your garden without getting muddy when we have some of our typical wet weather.
The most difficult aspect about paving stones is not so much deciding where to put them - but which type, style and look are you aiming for.
There is a vast range of paving stones and even then you can have choices on how to mix and match different sizes and colours. Don't worry we can talk you through some of the choices and options - also have a look at our Patio & Paving page for more inspiration.
There are a number of options for a driveway finish however block paving is the most popular. Main reasons are that it's quite cost effective, requires little maintenance. As there are a large variety of styles, shapes and colours, this enables a wide and bespoke pattern to be created easily for your driveway. We are happy to advise you on all the options available driveway options, which include gravel (stone), tarmac (asphalt), resin (bonded resin), Indian stone, cobblestone or brick, patterned concrete and of course traditional block paving.

The team have literally just pulled off my drive after putting a small (3ft) fence on my front drive. I HIGHLY recommend Nottingham Fencing. Their work is superb, the attention to detail is excellent and everything has been fitted straight and true. I am exceptionally impressed with the finished result. Moreover, the guys that came and did the work were truly great guys, very affable, super-efficient and professional. They kept me informed through the install and cleared up properly once finished. Nothing too much trouble and a pleasure to have them both working on my house...
Again, I highly recommend Nottingham Fencing, a great company that delivers fantastic results.
One very happy customer ☺️

Had a garden hedge removed and a gravel board and fence put in with metal gate and it looks lots better very nice friendly men Adam and Steve, very tidy site😊 also the lady who made and welded the gate was very friendly 😊
Excellent service with a quality product that exceeded expectations. We had a custom gate and fence put in, and it has been excellently aligned with existing area for a reasonable price too! Cannot ask for anything more from them, would highly recommend.
Have since had fencing done with them and the job was excellent again. I'm a repeat customer and very happy.
We focus on our customers quality and reputation mean alot to our founders Adam and Stephen. All the fence panels we manufacture as pressuree treated to provide a long lasting wooden panel. As local lads we want to serve our local community by providing a quality hassle free experience when dealing with us from our initial conversation to sign off our fence installation.
If it is within your budget then - Yes.
It will look good all year round without the need to treat the fence which can be awkward as plants and trees develop in front of your fence.
We can also provide a supply only offering on fence panels including composite fencing, concrete posts, gravel boards, trellises and gates.
Closeboard wooden fencing continues to be the most common fence panel we install, it is sometimes known as feather board and is the cheapest fencing option whilst still looking neat and tidy.
Our pressure treated panels, especially if fitted onto a gravel board should last well even without treatment for a number of years. If you opted for a dip treated panel from somewhere else you will need to treat it every year.
