Driveways in Nottingham

When it comes to driveways in Nottingham we can provide you with guidance on the options available to suit your budget and style aspirations.
As with patios and paving, the choice of driveways continues to grow as new materials and technologies enter the market place.
We've provided a brief summary of the different types of driveway. We've not listed gravel below even though it is the lowest cost option. If you're looking to revamp your driveway, it's likely that you are looking to upgrade from a
gravel driveway. If you have a very large driveway, where costs for some of the other options can become quite considerable as a total - combining areas of gravel along with one of the other options may make sense. Gravel areas may need topping up if they are being driven on as they will be crushed down over time - so where possible select gravel to run down the middle section of your drive.
To complete your driveway we also provide a full supply and
driveway gate installation service too, so don't forget about this aspect of your driveway too.

Block Paving Nottingham

This is still one of the most popular choices for a driveway in the UK. It provides a strong base and even if any damage does occur, replacing the odd block is relatively quick, easy and inexpensive. The blocks themselves can vary in terms of size, shape and colour, which does enable patterns to be created. Cobblestone driveways are one of the block alternatives to brick. They provide a more period look and feel and therefore complement older style properties but are generally a more expensive option than brick. As with bricks, they will gradually attract moss and algae, so to keep them looking good will require cleaning - typically with a jet wash. Over time seeds will find gaps between the blocks and can grow in those areas, so you'll need to keep an eye out for weeds and treat when required.

Tarmac Driveways Nottingham

These are also referred to as Asphalt driveways are a relatively cheap option and can look neat and tidy. Depending on your existing driveway this is commonly used to resurface an older existing tarmac driveway, which may have worn over time or deteriorated time due to oil or other chemical spills, which react with the tarmac and cause the surface to loosen. Once this happens it can lead to moss and algae build up. Avoiding such issues should keep your driveway in good condition for many years. Colours other than black are also available such as salmon, red, blue, green and buff shades - keeping tarmac driveways up there as a popular choice.

Indian Stone driveways

These are available in a small variety of colours but are growing in popularity due to their natural aesthetic appeal. Like block paving, over time weeds can find their way in the joints so it's important to keep an eye out for this. The other important aspect is to ensure that if you are looking to source the stones yourselves, then you must provide the driveway grade (thicker and therefore stronger) slabs, which are designed to withstand cars moving on them - unlike the patio grade.

Resin driveways Nottingham

Also known as resin bonded, or resin bound driveways, these are becoming one of the faster growing driveway choices. Its easy to see why - there is a wide choice of colours and styles and it is a long-lasting due to its durability. They allow water to drain through, which means that you avoid water build up in run away areas - so no puddles. However, they do not easily allow weeds or mould to form, meaning that they are very low maintenance and therefore stay fabulous for many years.

Imprinted concrete driveways Nottingham

This type of driveway is another one growing in popularity for similar reasons to resin driveways. There's a huge range of colours and pattern designs to choose from. The pattern is created by stamping on the wet concrete and coloured hardener - often replicating one of the other driveway styles such as slate, cobble or tiles. However, since there is no real gap between the stamped pattern, you end up with a very hard, low maintenance, finish. As the surface is laid as a complete unit the only gaps are those deliberately created after hardening, to allow for expansion in hot weather. Whilst good quality mastic in the expansion joints, can minimise weed growth there is still a possibility of growth in the expansion joints and possible cracking in extreme conditions. As this is a non permeable finish, the install has to consider water drainage, which can add significant additional costs.
