Whichever term you use: composite fencing, plastic fencing, UPVC or vinyl fencing it is the fastest growing segment of the home garden fence market.
Whilst the initial outlay is quite a bit more than a timber fence, the old adage of you 'get what you pay for' comes into play with composite panels. The key to looking at the cost of something is to look at 'total costs' i.e. what other costs can be associated with doing, or not doing something in relation to a purchase over the time? When the sun is out in England we want to enjoy our time in the garden either relaxing soaking up the rays with a cool drink, or socialising with friends and family around a barbeque and admiring the nature in it. The thought of spending several hours every year or two fence painting and preserving isn't most people's idea of fun. The beauty of a plastic fence is that no matter how much water gets splashed on, it doesn't damage the fence or look aged or tatty over time.
